Apple’s iPhones have never really had particularly fantastic battery life. They have typically been ok, but not exactly amazing. But with the upcoming foldable iPhone, it could pack the largest battery we’ve seen in an iPhone to date.
Foldable iPhone could sport a big battery
According to a post on Naver by yeux1122, they claim that the foldable iPhone could pack a battery around the 5,400 to 5,800mAh range. The post notes that the iPhone Air was initially tested with a battery around the 3,000mAh range, but ended up close to 3,200mAh. This means that the actual amount could be around 6,000mAh.
This would easily make it the largest battery we’ve seen on an iPhone to date. However, note that this is a foldable device, which means it’s essentially powering dual displays. This means any battery gains might be easily offset by the second display. But it’s still a good thing though, and hopefully it results in longer battery life overall.
Also, for a bit of context, Apple’s iPhone 17 Pro Max currently has the largest battery. However, even with the eSIM model, it barely squeaks past 5,000mAh. In any case, only time will tell if this larger battery will give us good battery life, or if the device is too power hungry to the point where even a 6,000mAh battery won’t be enough to sustain it.
What about other foldables?
Like we said earlier, Apple’s iPhones have never really been known to have particularly good battery life. However, if this report is true, the foldable iPhone might not only have the largest battery we’ve seen in an iPhone, but also one of the larger batteries we’ve seen in a foldable.
The Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7 currently packs a 4,400mAh battery. The OPPO Find N5 packs a 5,600mAh battery, while the Honor Magic V5 has a 6,100mAh battery in the China model.
Apple is expected to announce the device in 2026. However, some rumors claim that there are delays and it could be pushed to 2027. Either way, we’re still quite a long ways from an official announcement, so take it with a grain of salt.
