It’s been almost 20 years since the introduction of the V8-powered M3. It turned out to be one of BMW’s greatest hits, and that’s saying something, considering it followed another icon, the E46 M3. Released in 2007, the E9X series M3 ushered in major technological changes for the brand, chief among them was that V8 engine. It was larger and heavier than the E46, which made it a more refined and luxurious daily driver; you just had to dig a bit deeper to access the hardcore nature lurking beneath the surface.
