
After being in the beta phase for about three months, ASUS is now finally pushing out the stable Android 16 update to the Zenfone 12 Ultra. Additionally, the ROG Phone 9 is also getting the update. This marks the first major upgrade for both devices. The Android 16 update for the ASUS ROG Phone 9 and Zenfone 12 Ultra brings the build number 36.0810.1810.43.

The Android 16 update for the phones is around 1GB in size. An ASUS community post notes that, as with most updates, this one too is rolling out in batches. So it might take a few days to expand widely. You can check for the update manually by heading to Settings > System updates.
The Android 16 update to the ASUS ROG Phone 9 and Zenfone 12 Ultra (review) brings a bunch of new features and improvements. However, before proceeding with the update, the company advises users to back up their data.
The update is rolling out in batches
The Android 16 update adjusts the system navigation settings. The Predictive Back animation can be triggered by either the back gesture or long-pressing the back button. It adds a skip countdown button to the screen recording feature. The update adds a power button option in the advanced settings. This will let users configure quick access to the digital assistant by long-pressing the power button. The update reportedly fixes an issue with no sound during calls with Bluetooth headsets.Â
For the ROG Phone 9, the Android 16 update brings updated game profiles, AirProfile profiles, and Macro profiles in the ROG Instant Master. The company notes that some third-party apps are not compatible with Android 16 yet. Though the changelog doesn’t specify, the update should improve the overall performance.
