- Prices of the AV4 have been increased by up to 10.8 percent in Australia.
- Toyota is expected to release pricing details for the US-spec RAV4 soon.
- It’s possible the flagship GR Sport AWD could start at around $50,000.
While Toyota recently had journalists drive the all-new 2026 RAV4, including Carscoops’ own Stephen Rivers, it has not said how much it will cost in the US.
Across the Pacific, however, the company has revealed the full lineup and sticker prices for Australia, and some hefty price hikes there have us concerned that similar increases could be made Stateside.
Review: Toyota’s 2026 RAV4 GR Sport Doesn’t Play By Hybrid Rules
In Australia, the new RAV4 will be available in no fewer than 11 variants, which just so happens to be the same number as in the US for the previous-gen model. While the naming of certain models in Australia differs, the standard equipment of each version is typically similar to that of comparable models in the States.
How Expensive Is It Getting?
Down under, the hybrid 2026 RAV4 GX 2WD now opens at AU$45,990 (equal to around US$30,000 at current exchange rates), a jump of AU$3,730 (US$2,400) or roughly 8.8 percent. The GX AWD rises 9 percent to AU$49,340 (US$32,200). Moving up the range, the GXL 2WD and GXL AWD climb 6.9 and 7.2 percent to AU$48,990 (US$32,000) and AU$52,340 (US$34,200).
Interestingly, not every model has gone up. Toyota has trimmed the prices of the Edge AWD and XSE AWD by AU$3,020 (US$2,000) and AU$5,755 (US$3,700), respectively. Even so, the Cruiser 2WD and Cruiser AWD have jumped to AU$56,990 (US$37,200) and AU$60,340 (US$39,400), representing increases of about 10.8 percent or nearly AU$6,000 (US$4,000).

New to the Australian market is the RAV4 PHEV, starting at AU$58,840 (US$38,400) for the XSE 2WD and increasing to AU$63,340 (US$41,300) for the XSE AWD and AU$66,340 (US$43,300) for the all-new GR Sport AWD.
What About America?
It’s too early to say if Toyota will make similar price hikes in the US. If Toyota mirrors Australia’s 7 to 11 percent increases, American buyers could be in for an unpleasant surprise.
The outgoing 2025 RAV4 starts at $29,800 in the U.S. for the base LE, with the Hybrid lineup beginning at $32,850. If Toyota follows Australia’s pricing trend, the 2026 RAV4, offered exclusively as a hybrid, with a plug-in version set to join later, could see its entry price climb closer to $35,000.
Since the flagship GR Sport AWD is new to the range, it cannot be compared with a 2025 model. However, we suspect it could start near $50,000, pitting it against serious competition from the likes of Genesis, BMW, Volvo, and Mercedes-Benz.
