Anthropic announces its plans to invest a sum of $50 billion in building AI data centers in the US. This should strengthen their computing infrastructure in the country. The company will work with the AI cloud platform Fluidstack to build data centers in Texas and New York, with more sites to follow. The company last month entered into a cloud deal with Google for Tensor chips.

The new data centers will go live throughout 2026. This move will create 800 jobs and 2,400 construction jobs, according to the company. These facilities are custom-built for Anthropic. The company believes that such a large investment is necessary to meet the growing demand for its AI chatbot Claude. This will also allow it to keep its research at the “frontier of the technology.”
Anthropic, in a press release, said, “It will help advance the goals in the Trump administration’s AI Action Plan to maintain American AI leadership and strengthen domestic technology infrastructure.” To recall, President Trump moved his administration in January to produce an AI Action Plan that would make “America the world capital in artificial intelligence.”
The investment will create 800 jobs
Anthropic isn’t the only AI company investing billions into building data centers. OpenAI and SoftBank announced a $500 billion investment in the “Stargate Project” in January. This will bring a series of AI data centers around the US, starting with Texas. Meta is also committing $600 billion investment in US infrastructure and data centers.
Anthropic notes that it picked Fluidstack as its partner for its ability to move with “exceptional” agility, enabling rapid delivery of gigawatts of power. Gary Wu, co-founder and CEO of Fluidstack, regarding the partnership, said that “Fluidstack was built for this moment.” He added, “We’re proud to partner with frontier AI leaders like Anthropic to accelerate and deploy the infrastructure necessary to realize their vision.”
