Sony has officially announced its next gaming monitor, a PlayStation-branded monitor with some very PlayStation-friendly features. Most notably, a built-in hook for the DualSense that swings down, giving you a place to put that controller when you’re done with it. What’s more, is that it charges the controller, too. So you can always be sure that your controller has battery life when you pick it up to play games. Sony confirms this is designed to charge the DualSense and DualSense Edge, so don’t expect it to charge controllers like Razer’s new Raiju V3 Pro.
Sony announced the monitor during its PlayStation State of Play Japan on Tuesday, November 11. The monitor doesn’t have a name yet, nor did Sony announce pricing or availability dates. Not exact dates, at least. Sony says the monitor is coming in 2026, and it’ll be launching in the US and Japan.
Sony’s PlayStation was designed for PS5, but it works with PC games as well
Like Sony’s InZone monitors, which were designed for PC gaming but work with the PS5, this new PlayStation gaming monitor works with both platforms. It was designed for PS5, but Sony confirms it also works with PC. If you have both your console and a gaming PC in the same setup, this monitor will serve both well.
Sony mentions that it’s a 27-inch panel and it has QHD resolution. There’s also a 240Hz refresh rate, and it comes with VRR support. Additionally, it has HDMI 2.1 ports and one DisplayPort 1.4 port. There are three USB ports as well. Two are USB-A and one is USB-C. This should give gamers some versatility for things like hardware adapters. The monitor comes with built-in stereo speakers, but there’s also a 3.5mm audio port if you prefer to connect speakers externally.
The monitor also has some of the same features Sony has put in its TVs that boast PS5 features. For instance, Auto HDR Tone Mapping. The monitor also features a very PS5-like aesthetic with its white and black exterior. While no price is available yet, Sony says it plans to share more information about pricing and availability the closer it gets to launch.
