
OnePlus is gradually expanding its OxygenOS 16 footprint across its portfolio of devices. As it rolls out the new OS to its flagships, the company is also updating its tablet lineup. OnePlus is now pushing the Android 16-based OxygenOS 16 for the OnePlus Pad 3 and Pad 2. At the moment, the update is hitting in India, but it should expand to more regions globally.
OnePlus Pad 3 and Pad 2 get Android 16 update
The OxygenOS 16 build for the OnePlus Pad 3 brings the firmware version OPD2415_16.0.0.211 (EX01). Meanwhile, the OnePlus Pad 2 gets the version number OPD2403_16.0.0.202 (EX01). The Trinity Engine enhances steady gaming performance by intelligently analyzing and prioritizing key computational tasks. Apps now launch faster from your home screen, and Photo albums now load faster and use less power when displaying thumbnails.
Speaking of the battery, the new power saving mode adjusts performance based on how much battery is left. The new version also improves animations and touch response, making them smoother than before.
AI and Photos app enhancements
OxygenOS 16 brings AI enhancements. AI Notes supports block editing, text highlighting, and quick formatting with fonts and colors. The recorder can now remove background noise and highlight human voices. Recorder can now smartly auto-detect contexts like meetings, lectures, or interviews with matching templates applies for better usability. You can also attach links to recordings.
There are also updates to the AI writer, where you can now create summaries, speeches, posts, or notes with tone options and proofreading. The AI-enhanced Doc Scanner can transform physical documents into digital files.
The update brings a new visual update for Photos. They are now easier to navigate with clearer categories and personalized sorting for frequently used ones. You get new video editing features like splitting, merging, adjusting, playback speed, transitions, and adding background music. AI Portrait Glow is handy in low-light conditions.
Enhanced Wi-Fi algorithms
OxygenOS 16 allows you to drag and drop icons, widgets, Smart Sidebar, and folders more easily. This apparently delivers a natural, uninterrupted interaction experience. You get new smooth animations for the audio playback controls in Quick Settings. The updated scrolling mechanics deliver a more connected feeling between your touch and the on-screen movement.
Flux Themes in OxygenOS 16 adds redesigned icons, organized grids, and resizable icons with large folder options. There are now new motion wallpapers. OnePlus Connect now gets the ability to share clipboard content between devices. The enhanced Wi-Fi algorithms boost network performance in weak-signal areas.
There’s now a My Devices in Quick Settings, which allows you to control all your linked devices in one place. You can hide or lock any app icon on the home screen by touching and holding. You can check the Android 16 update for the OnePlus Pad 3 and Pad 2 from Settings > Software Update.
