At first glance, it’s just another Honda Odyssey – the same family-friendly, practical shape you’d see parked outside a school or supermarket, only with peculiar exhaust tips. But pop the hood of this one-off Odyssey, and you’ll see this isn’t a riced-out, upbadged monstrocity. It’s the real deal, worthy of the Type R badge. Built by Bisimoto Engineering and Jordan Distributors Inc. (JCi) for the 2025 SEMA Show, this Honda Odyssey Type R is a full-blown performance monster dressed in dad clothes.
Serious Type R Upgrades, and Then Some

At its core sits the same K20C1 2.0-liter turbocharged engine found in the 2025 Honda Civic Type R… sort of. Thanks to a Mitsubishi Stage 2 turbocharger and a long list of supporting upgrades, the Odyssey Type R is punching out well over 550 hp – 230 hp above the Civic it borrows from. Power goes through a six-speed manual gearbox and limited-slip differential, with front MacPherson struts, rear multi-link suspension, and BC Racing coilovers keeping it all planted. The red calipers, black 19-inch Type R wheels, and sticky Toyo Proxes R888R tires tell you it’s not all show. To top things off, it has a triple-exit exhaust setup, similar to the Civic’s, but it’s much bigger and louder.
Type R Looks, Family Luxury

Visually, Bisimoto and JCi nailed the OEM+ aesthetic. Finished in Platinum White with gloss black accents and red Type R badges, the Odyssey Type R looks like it could’ve rolled right off a secret production line in Japan. The front lip, side skirts, and rear diffuser sharpen up the familiar silhouette ever so slightly. Inside, it still feels like a top-spec 2025 Honda Odyssey – three rows of seats, black leather trim, power-adjustable seats, and even rear sunshades. But then there’s that short-throw shifter sticking out of the dash, reminiscent of the EP3 Type R. In a nutshell: It’s part race car, part family van, and overall completely ridiculous in the best way possible.
SEMA’s Coolest Sleeper Star So Far
With SEMA 2025 just getting underway, there’s no shortage of wild builds, with Nissan’s driver-focused lineup catching our attention, too. Yet somehow, it’s this 550-horsepower minivan stealing our hearts. Fans online can’t get enough, many saying they’d buy it on the spot if Honda made it for real. And honestly, who could blame them? Compared to the likes of the Toyota Sienna or Kia Carnival, this thing makes every other minivan look boring. It’s absurd, brilliant, and somehow believable. And if this is how SEMA 2025 is starting, the rest of the show’s going to have a hard time topping it.
