Following the financial crash and Chrysler’s bankruptcy in 2009, Fiat Chrysler split off Ram into a separate brand. The plan was to specialize Ram as the truck/utility arm while Dodge leaned more into performance. Since that split, the Ram brand has struck to building full-size and heavy-duty pickups and commercial vans. There’s never been an SUV in sight – such things remained the domain of Dodge and Jeep. However, that will change very soon.
