House Speaker Mike Johnson (R-La.) and U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) Secretary Brooke Rollins will speak with reporters Friday morning as the government shutdown stretches past the one-month mark.

Lawmakers are feeling the pressure to push the GOP’s “clean” stopgap funding bill over the finish line as federal workers miss out on pay, health care premiums are set to spike and airports around the U.S. face major delays. The lower chamber has been out for over a month as Johnson has vowed not to recall the House until the government is reopened.
President Trump late Thursday called for senators to vote to dismantle the filibuster rule that requires 60 votes to pass legislation — a threshold that lawmakers have failed to reach in the last 13 votes.
The event is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. EDT.
