The 2025 World Series is earning some of the highest viewership of any in the last 10 years thanks to growing interest from international markets in this year’s matchup.
Games 1 and 2 of the series between The Los Angeles Dodgers and Toronto Blue Jays earned a combined viewership in the U.S. and Canada of more than 20 million people, the league said on Tuesday, noting it was the highest rating during a two-game span since the 2016 World Series between the Chicago Cubs and Cleveland Guardians.
Interest in Japan, the native country of Dodgers All-Star slugger Shohei Ohtani has been particularly high, with the two games averaging more than 10 million viewers in a country of less than 150 million people.
With the American League Champion Blue Jays in the World Series for the first time since the early 1990s, viewership in Canada for this year’s Fall Classic has been some of the highest ever.
Games 1 and 2 combined to reach 15.9 million Canadians, breaking another viewership record in the country.
The World Series is tied at two games apiece heading into Wednesday night’s pivotal Game 5 in Los Angeles.
