Pennsylvania Gov. Josh Shapiro (D) will head to Hampton Roads, Va., on Sunday to campaign with gubernatorial candidate Abigail Spanberger in the final days before Election Day.Â
Shapiro, who like Spanberger hails from the party’s moderate wing, is the latest Democratic headliner to hit the campaign trail with her in Virginia. Earlier this week, former Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg campaigned with Spanberger in Charlottesville.Â
CBS News was the first outlet to report Shapiro’s plans to stump for Spanberger.Â
Buttigieg and Shapiro are both rising stars in the Democratic Party and have consistently been floated as potential 2028 presidential contenders.Â
Former President Obama is slated to campaign with Spanberger in Norfolk on Nov. 1, days before the Nov. 4 contest.Â
Spanberger has continued to lead her Republican opponent Lt. Gov. Winsome Earle-Sears (R). The latest polling average from The Hill’s partners at Decision Desk HQ show the former lawmaker leading Earle-Sears 49.5 percent to 43.9 percent.
