Morgan Stanley’s Eaton Vance Real Estate Investment Group has acquired Alta on the Row, a 370-unit apartment complex in Worcester, MA that opened in 2024, for $157 million. The Boston Business Journal reported that the property is the largest of a recent series of new apartment buildings to open in and around Worcester’s downtown.
Alta on the Row was built by Atlanta-based Wood Partners, a multifamily developer whose local portfolio also includes Alta-branded properties in Somerville, Framingham, Marlborough, Wayland, Walpole, Abington, Stoneham, Bolton and North Attleborough, the Business Journal reported. It stands on a former church property near Worcester’s Shrewsbury Street, which is popular for its restaurants, and across I-290 from the city’s downtown.
Wood Partners paid $5.6 million for the property in 2022. The site formerly contained the Catholic Mount Carmel church, which was demolished after preservation efforts failed. The church parish merged with another in Worcester.
