TP-Link’s smart home brand, Tapo, has expanded its outdoor security lineup with the launch of the Tapo C615F Solar-Powered Floodlight Pan/Tilt 2K Security Camera. This all-in-one device combines high-resolution video, 360-degree rotation, and solar power into a single, wire-free solution designed for complete outdoor coverage.
The C615F is currently available in the US, with plans for a European launch. The solution aims to address a common pain point: providing security coverage in areas where power outlets are unavailable.
Tapo’s new C615F solar security floodlight camera offers 140-day battery
The Tapo C615F features a 2K 3MP camera capable of monitoring large areas. It offers 360° horizontal rotation and 130° vertical tilt, allowing users to scan their property completely. The camera gets assistance from an 800-lumen floodlight, which you can customize in both angle and brightness to illuminate specific spots. Users can activate the light manually or set it to trigger automatically upon motion detection.
A key differentiator is the power source. The camera comes bundled with an adjustable solar panel. According to Tapo, this system can provide enough charge for 24 hours of operation with just 45 minutes of direct sunlight. A backup battery offers up to 140 days without sun, depending on usage frequency. The wire-free setup has IP65 rating for dust and water resistance.
Smart features with zero fees
Tapo’s C615F has a strong value proposition with several advanced features without requiring a subscription. The device offers subscription-free AI detection, allowing it to intelligently identify and track humans, vehicles, and pets. The camera automatically pans to follow the subject for a complete footage capture.
For storing recordings, users have flexibility. They can opt for local storage using a microSD card up to 512 GB or subscribe to the optional Tapo Care cloud service. The camera also supports color night vision and includes sound/light alarms for deterring intruders.
The new Tapo C615F is available through major retailers in the US. At launch, the camera carries an MSRP of $99.99, though it is currently being offered at a discounted price of $89.99 for a limited time. The camera integrates seamlessly into the Tapo smart home ecosystem and supports voice commands via Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant.
