Last year, Google announced that any reminders created in the Keep app would soon automatically appear in Tasks. Though no specific timeline for this was available back then, the company in July this year clarified that Keep-to-Tasks migration will happen later this year (second half of 2025). Well, that is now finally happening. Google Keep is replacing its reminders system with Google Tasks.
Google Keep is replacing reminders with Tasks
The company, in a blog update, notes that Keep reminders are automatically saved to Tasks. This means that users can view their Keep reminders as tasks in the Calendar, in the Tasks app, or even ask the Gemini app. It notes that any existing date/time-based Keep reminders will show up in Google Tasks automatically.
This move aims to make Google Tasks the single stop for managing your to-dos. Whether you’re saving somethings from Keep, Gmail, Calendar, Chat, Docs, or Gemini, Google Tasks will keep them up to date. They are also accessible across the Workspace products.
When you tap the bell icon in the top-right corner of a note, the Remind me later sheet now features the blue Google Tasks app icon and a single-line description: “Your reminders are saved in Google Tasks.” Like before, there are “Later today, Tomorrow morning, Next week, and Pick a date & time” options.

Location reminders are no longer available. Further to this change, the Google Keep app will stop sending reminder notifications. You need to have Google Calendar or Tasks installed on your device. You can edit the date or time in Keep, Calendar, Tasks, or Gemini, but you can’t edit the title of the task from Keep.
If you delete a task in Calendar or Tasks, the note will remain. If you wish to delete a note with a task, you can delete the note and task or just the note. Lastly, if you archive a note with a task, it’ll not affect the task. This Google Keep-to-Tasks migration is now rolling out, with full availability expected in the coming weeks. This is available to all personal Google account users, Workspace customers, and Workspace individual subscribers.
