After several months of waiting for Samsung’s latest smartwatch OS update to hit their watches, Galaxy Watch 7 owners are finally starting to see the One UI 8 Watch update come through on their devices. Samsung was initially planning to push this out to the Galaxy Watch much earlier this year, but the company delayed the update. Samsung did roll out a beta to the Galaxy Watch 7 and Galaxy Watch Ultra back in June.
Now that the wait is almost over, users can expect a fresh batch of customization options, smoother user experiences, and perhaps even a new feature or two. That being said, not everyone is going to get their hands on One UI 8 Watch this week.
One UI 8 Watch begins rolling out to Galaxy Watch 7 owners in South Korea
With the update now headed out to users, it’s important to keep one thing in mind if you’re still using this smartwatch from last year. Samsung isn’t pushing the update out to everybody at the same time. Reports of the software update rolling out come from SamMobile, which notes that Samsung is pushing this software update out to users in South Korea only at the moment.
That means if you live in the US, then you have some more waiting to do before the software officially hits your watch as well. This only refers to the stable version of the software, and not the beta that Samsung has already pushed to users months ago.
Unfortunately, there isn’t a confirmation from Samsung when this software will start to hit watches in the US. It shouldn’t be that far out from users in South Korea, though. This particular update is fairly small if you were already using the One UI 8 software in its most recent beta form. If you’re one of those users, the software should only end up being 160MB. As SamMobile reports, anyone not on the beta should expect a much larger download. Possibly close to 2GB, which would make the download and installation a slightly longer process.
