Samsung is on a spree with its One UI 8 rollout. The company is consistently expanding the number of devices that are running the latest OS. Though it doesn’t bring a major redesign, it enhances the overall experience with stability and behind-the-scenes enhancements. In the latest round, Samsung is rolling out the One UI 8 update to the Galaxy A53, Galaxy A33, and Galaxy XCover 7 Pro.
Samsung Galaxy A53, A33, and XCover 7 Pro get One UI 8 update
The Android 16 update for the devices is currently live in Korea, meaning it should expand to other regions, possibly in the coming weeks. The One UI 8 update brings the firmware version GYI2 for the Galaxy A53, while it’s GYI3 for the Galaxy A33. As for the XCover series, the XCover 7 Pro, which is the newest model in the series, carries the firmware version BYI6.Â
The update should hit the devices automatically. But if it hasn’t, you can check from the System Settings > Software Update > Download and Install.
One UI 8 refines Samsung’s core apps
One UI 8 brings enhancements to Samsung’s core apps like Calendar, My Files, and others. DeX now leverages Android 16’s Desktop Mode, thereby offering a new user interface and features. Galaxy AI’s Drawing Assist now offers five more styles, including Insta Toon, Art Nouveau, Pop Art, Soft Illustration, and Webtoon. Samsung Browser gets a redesigned menu and tab bar.
The Gallery app brings a redesigned menu, making it more polished. You now get an Audio Eraser button while viewing videos to remove unwanted noises instantly. Within the Gallery app, there’s a Private Album for private memories. ‘Now Bar’ can show updates about stocks. The Weather app now shows fuller 3D animations. There are new categories in the Reminder app for a more organized view.
