Samsung’s first tri-fold smartphone will get a wider launch than initially expected. Only China and South Korea were rumored as the countries where the device will be available in. Well, a new report claims otherwise… and it’s not the first report with such information.
Samsung’s first tri-fold smartphone to launch in more countries than we thought
Based on a report from SamMobile, Samsung is planning to launch the device in more countries. The source reports that the device will launch in the UAE as well, but it could make its way to other countries, too, including the US.
It seems like Samsung was initially planning to launch it in only two markets, but something changed since then. Either the company is so confident in this phone, that it wants it to have a wider reach, or it’s feeling the pressure from Huawei and some other companies. It could be both.
Either way, the company’s first tri-fold smartphone is expected to arrive at some point this year. October 21 is now mentioned as the possible, initial launch date. It will launch in Korea first, probably.
A 10-inch display is tipped
We also have some information regarding its specifications. This smartphone is tipped to include a 10-inch OLED display that folds into three parts, of course. Its battery is tipped to be split into three pieces as well.
A triple camera setup is expected on the back, including a 200-megapixel main camera. In addition to that, we’ll likely see ultrawide and telephoto cameras.
As many of you already know, Huawei is the only company that has actually announced a tri-fold smartphone, which is available in the market. In fact, the company announced two of them thus far, the Huawei Mate XT and Mate XTs.
Samsung is expected to be the second company to do so, and based on what we’ve seen thus far, that is true. Samsung will likely announce its tri-fold offering later this month.
