Google is now rolling out the Wear OS 6 update to the Pixel Watch 2 and Pixel Watch 3. That is the update that comes pre-installed on the Pixel Watch 4, of course. Both Bluetooth/Wi-Fi and LTE models of the watches are now getting the update.
The Google Pixel Watch 2 and 3 are now getting Wear OS 6, but not the original model
Those of you who are wondering, no, the update is not coming to the original Google Pixel Watch at the moment, it seems. Yes, the original Pixel Watch will get the update, as it has software updates guaranteed until at least October 2025. So… we do expect it to arrive.
This update for the Pixel Watch 2 and 3, BP3A.250905.014.W3, is based on Wear OS 6 and Android 16. Tapping the ‘Your watch is up to date’ screen in Settings -> System -> System updates multiple times will initiate the download. You can speed up the update process by opening Connectivity preferences and disabling Bluetooth in order to force Wi-Fi.
This update brings the full Material 3 Expressive redesign
The Wear OS 6 update brings the full Material 3 Expressive redesign. That includes the updated lockscreen keypad, Quick Settings, Dynamic Color based on your watch face, and also notifications.
You’ll find a redesigned Alarm app on your watch following this update, and the same goes for the Stopwatch and Timer apps. What you will not get is new watch faces that have been introduced with the Pixel Watch 4.
Google has shared the OTA images for the Pixel Watch October 2025 update, which can be found here, in case you need them. As a reminder, Google also started rolling out the October 2025 Android update to its Pixel smartphones. The security bulletin has not been shared yet, though we don’t know what is included on the security side of things.
