There are many consumer-grade headphones out there in the market today. This includes popular brands like Sony, Bose, Beats, and so on. However, if you’re the type that cares a little more about the audio quality of their headphones, then you might want to check out the new Sennheiser HDB 630 headphones.
Meet the new Sennheiser HDB 630
Under the hood (or cup?), the Sennheiser HDB 630 packs a custom 42mm dynamic driver. The acoustic system features a larger back volume, new magnet damper, and protective mesh designed to smooth out the upper-midrange and treble energy. This supposedly results in smooth mids, intimate vocals, and fast dynamics with a natural sound signature.
For connectivity, the HDB 630 supports high-resolution audio playback up to 24-bit/96kHz through wired USB-C or analog connections. For wireless fans, the headphones also support Bluetooth 5.2 with aptX Adaptive codec. Sennheiser has thoughtfully included a USB-C transmitter dongle that upgrades compatible smartphones for wireless hi-res streaming. The Smart Control Plus app offers advanced sound customization with a parametric equalizer, A/B toggle with adjustable Q, and a Crossfeed mode inspired by the flagship HE 1 headphones for a speaker-like sound.
Battery life, on paper, is impressive with up to 60 hours on a single charge. You can make use of the quick-charge functionality to get another seven hours from just 10 minutes of charging. The headphones also include adaptive noise cancellation with a hybrid ANC system, beamforming microphones for voice calls, transparency mode, and ultra-soft Japanese Protein Leatherette ear cushions from IDEATEX.
The HDB 630 is priced at $500 and available for pre-order starting October 8, 2025, with shipping from October 21, 2025.
How it compares to the Momentum 4
If you’re familiar with Sennheiser, there’s a good chance you know the company’s lineup of Momentum headphones. So the question is, how do these headphones compare against the Momentum 4? The Momentum 4 is tuned more for the average consumer with a V-shaped sound signature that emphasizes bass and treble. The HDB 630, on the other hand, targets audiophiles with a more natural, balanced sound that prioritizes smooth mids and intimate vocals.
You do get more customization options on the HDB 630. The Smart Control Plus app gives you access to a parametric equalizer and Crossfeed mode. These are features you won’t find on the Momentum 4. Plus, the HDB 630 supports wired hi-res audio playback up to 24-bit/96kHz through USB-C, and the included USB-C transmitter dongle lets you upgrade your smartphone’s wireless sound to high resolution as well.
