The Volvo EX30 generated excitement when the Swedish brand announced it in 2023. The company promised that the tiny SUV would start under $35,000 and offer an upgraded all-wheel-drive version that accelerated from 0 to 60 mph in just 3.4 seconds. Alas, the EX30’s American launch did not go quite as planned. Volvo built initial EX30s in China, which were soon subject to heavy tariffs from the Biden administration. Volvo eventually delivered the EX30 to the US market, and a new single-motor version for 2026 gets close to – but doesn’t quite reach – that initial target price.
