Unless a manufacturer has already established itself as one of the go-to sporting brands, such as Ferrari and Porsche, it’s very difficult to make it as a front-running marque in this competitive arena. A prospective marque either needs to nail the brief from the outset and offer a truly great machine, or make a mark in some other way. British brand MG went with the latter option for its XPower SV model, primarily as the company needed it to make ground quickly due to its complicated financial situation.
