At least two people were killed and three were hospitalized in a shooting early Monday outside a casino in Reno, Nev.
A gunman opened fire outside the Grand Sierra Resort casino and shot multiple people before he was taken into custody, police said, noting an officer responded with gunfire after identifying the suspect.
“Officers immediately located the suspect at which time an officer involved shooting occurred,” a police statement read.
“The suspect was taken into custody and transported to a local area hospital. The suspect’s condition is unknown at this time. There is no known continuing threat to the public.”
Reno police spokesperson Chris Johnson said the victims’ conditions were not immediately known.
“My heart goes out to everyone who has been impacted by the tragic shooting incident at the Grand Sierra Resort (GSR) in Reno this morning. Our thoughts are with the Grand Sierra staff, the guests of the resort and anyone who has been impacted by this incident,” Reno Mayor Hillary Schieve said in a statement on the social platform X.
