Believe it or not, there was a time when the Jeep Wrangler only came with two doors. The proliferation of America’s beloved four-door JL has placed the two-door Jeep in the back seat, though. Truly, late-model Jeeps like the 2025 Wrangler JL – in any of its many available trims – have, without a doubt, set the bar very high, not only with their off-road chops, but in terms of safety and technology, too. But there was a time, not too long ago, when there was a simpler Jeep. A Jeep that offered the same off-road thrills but was completely unplugged and perhaps even “raw” compared to today’s JL, and certainly more affordable. We’re talking about the Jeep that delivered us from the CJ, none other than our favorite (or one of them) square-head-lighted topless off-roaders, the Jeep YJ. But is a Jeep like the 1995 Wrangler YJ, still a good bet or a problem waiting to happen?
