Manual transmissions are old-tech, especially compared to the latest dual-clutch and automatic transmissions. Perhaps unsurprisingly, most customers choose these newfangled auto ‘boxes over a stick shifter. In most cases, they don’t have much of a choice; the manual has been dying out for decades, and not even the VW Golf GTI, that most analog of hot hatches, comes with a manual anymore.
