Porsche caused quite an upstart when they unveiled their new grand tourer at the 1977 Geneva Auto Show. It was the company’s first front-engine V8, and water-cooled at that as well. The round design with soft edges, especially at the back, differed markedly from the halo 911, and it was no wonder that, from a purist view, the reception was lukewarm.
