We’re drawing toward the end of purely gasoline-powered engines. It’s a good and bad thing from a car enthusiast’s point of view. It’s positive in the short run because we have reached a peak in performance and reliability, and automakers are doing wonders with both naturally-aspirated, forced induction, and using hybrid tech to improve performance. It’s unfavorable because we’re probably going to lose the romance, curiosity, and mechanical tinkering of combustion engines. At some point, we’re going to have a final edit of the Gasoline-Fueled Powerplant Hall Of Fame, so let’s take a look at some of the contenders available from the factory in 2025.
