Large electric trucks were some of the first modern EVs to come to market. GMC led off its Ultium EV effort with the GMC Hummer EV SUT and followed with full-size, less audacious Chevrolet Silverado and GMC Sierra variants. Ford launched the F-150 Lightning with great fanfare. Rivian debuted with the R1T pickup. Trucks were not the obvious choice from a marketing perspective. Truck buyers tend to be prickly about downsizing from V8s, let alone switching to EVs. And early EV adopters from the coasts were not truck people.
