GM is enjoying remarkable success in the Middle East, led by its full-size SUVs. It’s the only market other than the US where GM offers its full lineup of full-size SUVs, and sales have jumped 28 percent in the third quarter of 2025, compared to the same period in 2024. The growth spans all three brands in the region, with the Chevrolet Tahoe and Suburban, GMC Yukon, and Cadillac Escalade all posting strong gains. Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, and Kuwait emerged as the top markets.
Earlier in the year, the momentum was even stronger. During the first quarter of 2025, GM Middle East reported a 26 percent overall sales increase, with full-size SUV sales surging by a remarkable 55 percent year over year. The Tahoe and Suburban witnessed a 22 percent rise, while the Escalade gained 16 percent.

Why Middle Eastern buyers love American SUVs
Several factors explain the strong appetite for GM’s full-size SUVs in the region. The vehicles offer a combination of power, space, and premium technology that aligns perfectly with customer preferences across the Middle East. Customers aged 20 to 29 are emerging as a defining audience for models like the Tahoe and Escalade, while there’s been a notable increase in Asian expatriates and female ownership.
GM’s 99-year track record in the Middle East has built substantial brand loyalty, with the company reporting a 33 percent rise in repeat aftersales customers over the last five years. The region’s strong economy and preference for large, capable vehicles create favorable conditions that complement the vehicles’ premium positioning in both the Middle East and US markets.

American cars find new takers away from home
GM’s success extends beyond SUVs. The Chevrolet Corvette posted its best month of sales in the Middle East since 2015 in August 2025. The mid-engine C8 Corvette has fundamentally changed how international buyers perceive American performance cars, transforming the Corvette from muscle car to legitimate supercar alternative.
American manufacturers are finding the Middle East to be fertile ground for growth as traditional markets face challenges. Ford doubled its sales in the region between 2022 and 2024, becoming the fastest-growing automotive brand in Saudi Arabia. The region’s preference for powerful vehicles, combined with changing demographics and economic strength, creates opportunities that beat expectations.
