Volkswagen Group expects its partnership with Rivian will help give its efforts to make affordable and profitable EVs a boost. Also, it will help make up for the software-defined vehicle issues it has been struggling with for the better part of a decade. Meanwhile, Rivian expects to enjoy a boatload of much-needed cash. It turns out, though, that Volkswagen could benefit beyond its EVs. The partnership could lead to Rivian tech in cars with gas engines, too.
