The upcoming Genesis flagship will be a stunner
Besides the brand cachet it’s still building, Genesis is every bit as deserving of its luxury car status as more established rivals like Lexus, BMW, and Mercedes-Benz. But we haven’t seen the best of Genesis yet, as the Korean marque is busy applying the finishing touches to its largest model yet, which is the GV90 SUV.
A three-row, full-size model, it’s expected to compete with the likes of other large electric SUVs like the Lucid Gravity. We’ve seen spy shots of the GV90’s towering body before, but this latest batch of images gives us our clearest look yet at the rear coach doors, which are rear-hinged like a Rolls-Royce’s.

Unhindered Interior Access

Despite a sign on the back side window saying “please do not open rear door,” someone did anyway, allowing our spies to capture these intriguing images of the luxury SUV. The GV90 has no B-pillar, so when both the front and rear doors are open, it creates a massive opening to make entering the vehicle as graceful as possible. Naturally, those coach doors open electrically, and the expected higher seating position should make gliding into and out of those back seats truly effortless.
One of the only other luxury SUVs with coach doors, the Rolls-Royce Cullinan, still has a central pillar, so the opening into the vehicle isn’t as expansive. It’ll be interesting to hear how Genesis has reinforced the GV90 to maintain crash safety standards and torsional stiffness, given the lack of a center pillar. Our spies do tell us that an alternative version of the GV90 will be available with normal doors, though.

Other than those nifty doors, this is also our second look at the luxurious leather upholstery, finished in an opulent purple. There are several controls on the seats to adjust them electrically, both front and rear, and we expect that the second row will be able to recline by a few degrees.
The exterior reveals nothing we haven’t seen before—this is going to be a sizable vehicle, and its split front/rear lighting and grille design are clearly reminiscent of other Genesis models.
Silent Electric Power

As an electric SUV, the GV90 should be superbly refined and very quick, too. Dual motors and all-wheel drive will likely be standard, and don’t be surprised to see top variants producing over 500 horsepower—or even more in the case of the GV90 Magma performance model.
A range of 300 miles is always a good psychological target, but the Gravity can get up to 450 miles. Genesis will need quite a large battery pack to get close to that. An air suspension for a buttery ride and every conceivable interior amenity are fully expected at this level, especially from Genesis, which typically adds most items as standard.
Now that it has been spied several times, we expect an official reveal imminently, and it should go on sale sometime in 2026.
