It seems like Samsung’s very first tri-fold smartphone will launch on December 5. Well, at least according to a new report shared by Ice Universe, one of the most prominent tipsters out there. He picked it up from one of the Korean publications. He did not note which one, though.
Samsung’s first tri-fold phone will finally launch on December 5, it seems
In any case, the phone is expected to become official on that date, we’re presuming in Korea. The report also notes that the device will offer a 6.5-inch cover display. That will be its second display, which is placed on the back.
The main display of the phone, when fully unfolded, will measure 10 inches. When the phone is fully unfolded, it will measure only 4.2mm of thickness. When fully folded, it will be 14mm thick. So it will be thicker than the Huawei Mate XT and Mate XTs.
The last piece of information that Ice Universe passed on is that the phone will feature a 5,600mAh battery. So, it will have the same battery capacity as both of Huawei’s tri-fold smartphones. Does this mean Samsung will finally utilize silicon-carbon tech? It remains to be seen.
As a reminder, this smartphone was expected to launch in the last days of October, or in the first days of November, but that didn’t happen. Samsung did show it off in late October, but only put it behind glass and did not properly announce it.
It received several certifications recently
That smartphone did get certified by Bluetooth SIG recently, and then again by an authority in Singapore more recently. The phone is obviously right around the corner, and this report more or less confirms it.
It was just a matter of time before it arrived, as Samsung did confirm, on several occasions, that the device is coming before the end of the year. That phone is tipped to cost around $3,000, though, so keep that in mind. Its availability will also be limited. While it is tipped to arrive to the US at some point, maybe even in some markets in the EU, chances are it will become available in Korea and China first.
