A couple of days ago, OnePlus halted the rollout of its latest OxygenOS update due to considerable issues. Well, it was now announced that the issues have been fixed, and the rollout has resumed.
The two OxygenOS versions have been halted, 16.0.7.XXX and 16.0.5.XXX. What was the issue? Well, phones that received these updates have been facing abnormal restarts and boot issues. Some were thrown into bootloop hell.
OnePlus fixed a potentially catastrophic update before it caused any damage to users
Those two updates were aimed at a ton of OnePlus devices, and it’s nice to see that the issue has been fixed. OxygenOS 16.0.7.XXX rollout to the OnePlus 15 has continued, and the same goes for the OxygenOS 16.0.5.XXX’s rollout to the OnePlus 13, 12, 12R, Nord 5, and more.
In its post on the OnePlus Community website, the company said that the issues have been “identified and resolved.” OnePlus does say that no external users were affected with buggy updates. That’s always good to hear.
OnePlus says that it spotted the issue during “internal rollout monitoring,” so it managed to prevent a catastrophe for users. OnePlus says that users who have already updated can continue using their devices normally and with confidence.
If you did not receive your update yet, you will in the near future. As per usual, OnePlus is pushing out the updates in stages, which means it may take some time for everyone to get them.
OnePlus should be praised for transparency
It’s nice to see how transparent OnePlus was about this issue. Not only did it recognize a problem, but it let everyone know that one exists, and that the update will be slightly delayed. Then proceeded to fix the issue within a couple of days. Kudos OnePlus.
