OnePlus will be the first company to utilize the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5. Just to be clear, we’re talking about the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 here, not the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. Xiaomi will be the first company to use the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 SoC, Qualcomm’s new flagship.
OnePlus will be first to use the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 SoC
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 5 will be more powerful than the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, but less powerful than the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5. So while it’s a good chip, it won’t be on the same level as the company’s new flagship.
Qualcomm did confirm the Snapdragon 8 Gen 5, but it did not release any technical details about it. That’s why we’re basing the information on rumors, but let’s hope Qualcomm will share more details soon.
With that being said, OnePlus itself confirmed that it will be first ot use this chip. Well, the company’s executive did. The executive in question is Li Jie Louis, who also confirmed that the first phone running this chip will launch “globally.”
The OnePlus Ace 6 the phone in question; OnePlus 15R globally… probably
What phone are we talking about here? Well, it’s probably the OnePlus 15R, at least as far as global users are concerned. Users in China will get it earlier, though, under the OnePlus Ace 6 name.
The thing is, the OnePlus 15R is expected to launch alongside the OnePlus 15 globally. That means that we probably won’t see it until January, unless OnePlus changes up its release cycle.
We don’t have any information about the OnePlus 15R at this point. Well, other than the assumption that it will run this new chip. The phone will likely also include a large display, just like the OnePlus 15, and a large battery too. The OnePlus 13R was a very compelling phone, with a compelling price tag, so we’re expecting to see something similar from its successor.
