President Trump has the District of Columbia’s crime and appearance at the forefront of his mind.
Late last week, the president ordered federal law enforcement deployed at night to prevent violent crime in parts of the city, and on Monday morning he will make remarks on how he plans to move forward with improving safety and addressing homelessness.
The 10 a.m. EDT press conference “will not only involve ending the Crime, Murder, and Death in our Nation’s Capital, but will also be about Cleanliness and the General Physical Renovation and Condition of our once beautiful and well maintained Capital,” he posted Sunday night on Truth Social.
The week will also be spent preparing for a Friday summit in Alaska between Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin. The administration is hoping for a breakthrough in peace negotiations with Moscow and a discussion around territorial acquisitions. But Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has said Ukraine will not cede territory to Russia.
