At Apple’s event yesterday, the company officially took the wraps off its new iPhone 17 smartphones. This includes the iPhone 17, iPhone Air, and the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. Given the updated specs, including a larger display for the base iPhone 17, the ultra-thin iPhone Air, and the redesigned body of the Pro and Pro Max models, Apple has launched a bunch of new iPhone 17 accessories to go with the new phones.
iPhone 17 case accessories
Like we said, the larger base iPhone 17 and the new iPhone 17 designs means your old case won’t fit the new models. If you’re a fan of first-party/official cases, Apple has a bunch of iPhone 17 accessories worth checking out.
Starting with the base iPhone 17, Apple is only offering a lineup of silicone cases with support for MagSafe. They are available in a black, light moss, purple fog, anchor blue, and neon yellow finishes.
But if you’re planning to buy the iPhone Air, there are two options. This comes in the form of a polycarbonate case that’s available in either a frosted finish or a black finish, which Apple is calling “shadow”. All the iPhone Air cases are also MagSafe compatible. So, if you plan to use wireless charging like MagSafe, a dock, or even Qi2, you can.
Last but not least, the iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max. Apple has a lot more options for its Pro models. This includes a polycarbonate clear case, a silicone one which is offered in neon yellow, purple fog, midnight, orange, terra cotta, and a black finish, and a TechWoven case. According to Apple, TechWoven is a case made from custom technical woven fabric.
The material is made from 100% recycled polyester, resulting in a case that looks more textured and feels more grippy. It is available in blue, purple, sienna, green, and black options.
The cases are all priced at $49 each, except for the Pro Max models, which retail for $59.
New crossbody strap
In addition to new cases, Apple has also introduced a new iPhone accessory with the crossbody strap. This is a strap that you sling across your body that allows you to “wear” your iPhone, kind of like a lanyard. It’s a novel accessory and we’re not sure how many people would actually use it.
But if you are interested, it is made from 100% recycled PET yarns and features flexible magnets with stainless steel sliding mechanisms. This allows the wearer to make quick and easy adjustments on the fly. The crossbody strap is priced at $59. Clearly it is compatible with the official Apple cases, but we’re not so sure about third-party cases.
