We like to believe that nobody sets out to make a bad product. But bad product launches happen all the time, maybe due to a lack of market research, poor timing, a rush to market to beat the competition, and so on. So, we get what T-Mobile is trying to achieve with T-Life, but it’s not quite there yet. That being said, if you’re a T-Mobile customer trying to avoid T-Life, here’s something worth considering.
How to avoid using the T-Mobile T-Life app
According to a post on Reddit by u/ElectricalBobcat1084 who claims to be a T-Mobile employee, they have shared a simple and straightforward “hack” if you want to avoid using T-Life. The answer is simple: cash.
The post acknowledges that the T-Life app is terrible, and how customers who walk into a store requesting physical, human help are unable to get it unless they use the app. However, they offered a simple solution, which is to use cash for your transactions.
The OP says, “I myself tell my customers (whisper to them) that they can always come back with cash. As of right now thats the only way we can process a transaction through our tablets without getting in trouble is if you’re paying with cash.”
They add, “The reason I tell them to come back is bc when an upgrade is done in our tablet, you can use your trade in value towards out of pocket cost. Doing this through the app wont allow that option. But if we really just want to fight against this and show them that not everyone wants to use the app, bring cash!”
Win for both employees and customers
We previously covered how the carrier seemingly “punishes” employees who fail to get a customer to use T-Life. This includes writing up a report explaining why they failed to do so. This seems rather punitive and counterproductive. After all, if the saying “the customer is always right” holds true, shouldn’t customers be able to make purchases or upgrades the way they see fit?
With this workaround, it allows customers to get what they need while sparing employees from writing up a report. We know that in this digital age, cashless payments are becoming increasingly common. There are so many ways to pay other than cash, like with credit/debit cards, e-wallets, and more.
But if you absolutely hate T-Life, then maybe it’s time to visit an ATM and take out some cash and head to your nearest T-Mobile store.
