Back in August, a rumor said that the Samsung Galaxy S26 Ultra will offer a new AI Privacy display feature. Well, that turned out to be true, as that feature has just been shown in a couple of screenshots.
Samsung’s Privacy display feature gets confirmed via leaked screenshots
An X user called ‘Ach’ has shared these screenshots, as he says he pulled them from the first One UI 8.5 build. What will the Privacy display feature do, exactly? Well, the same thing specialized privacy screen protectors do.
Some of you probably had those. Screen protectors that limit the viewing angles of the phone’s screen, so that you can see it only when you’re looking at it head-on. People off to the side cannot peek.
Well, that’s exactly what this feature will aim to achieve, but without any extra hardware. The benefit of this is that you can disable it whenever you like, through the phone’s settings. Let’s hope it’ll work properly.
The feature is described as “Limits screen visibility from side angles to protect your privacy in public.” As you can see in the provided screenshots, there is an Auto Privacy toggle in the settings. That toggle can enable Privacy display in public places, ranging from general crowds to public transport and elevators.
You’ll be able to choose between automatic or manual use, and specify which apps to take advantage of it
If you prefer a manual setup for this, you can set that up too. You’ll notice that there are manual settings, thanks to which you can set ‘Custom conditions’ for when it will turn on. So you can specify the exact time(s).
On top of that, you’ll also be able to specify which apps you’d like this feature to activate for. For example, if you’d like ot use it only for apps that have sensitive content, such as your mobile banking app, for example, you’ll be able to do that.
This feature will debut with One UI 8.5, it seems. That version of Samsung’s OS is currently in beta, and it’s expected to debut properly with the Samsung Galaxy S26 series in January next year.
