The world of smartphone leaks is often as exciting as it is confusing. It is common for conflicting information to fly around from various sources. But for fans of Samsung‘s flagship phones, the smoke is finally starting to clear around the upcoming Galaxy S26 Edge, at least regarding its battery capacity.
A fresh report by a reliable leaker has provided a clearer picture of what to expect for this device. The biggest news revolves around the phone’s design and battery. For a while, there was confusion about the battery capacity. Different leaks suggested everything from a 4,500mAh to a 4,200mAh unit. The latest information from Ice Universe seems to confirm the lower number, putting the battery at 4,200mAh.
4,200mAh, the actual battery capacity of the Samsung Galaxy S26 Edge
Probably some might be disappointed it’s not the larger number. However, this is still a substantial upgrade over the 3,900mAh battery found in the current Galaxy S25 Edge.
What makes this an even bigger deal is the phone’s rumored thickness. Leaks suggest the S26 Edge will be an incredibly thin 5.5mm. This would make it 0.3mm thinner than its already sleek predecessor. Achieving a thinner design while also increasing the battery size is quite a technological achievement. It’s Samsung is pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in phone design, using thinness as a key selling point in its mobile flagships from 2025.
Beyond the design, other rumors about the Galaxy S26 series are also starting to take shape. The company will continue to push its own hardware with a dual-chip strategy. Some regions are expected to receive a version powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 2, while others are expected to receive Samsung’s own Exynos 2600 chip. It’s also rumored to support 45W charging, which would be a welcome speed boost for users.
Potential camera improvements
Some sources also point to improvements in the device’s photography department. A mid-July report claimed that Samsung will integrate a new 50MP ultra-wide lens into the Galaxy S26 Edge. For reference, the current S25 Edge has a 12MP ultra-wide camera sensor, which, while offering good quality, isn’t the best Samsung can offer.
Multiple recent reports suggest the S26 Edge will replace the S26 Plus. This means this model could arrive alongside all other Galaxy S26 models. Looking ahead, Samsung should hold its next Unpacked event in January 2026. In the meantime, we can expect to see more details emerge in the coming weeks.
