The 2025 Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 just muscled its way near to the top of Edmunds’ performance charts, setting the fastest U-drag test time of any gas-powered car they’ve ever tested. We say near because it couldn’t outrun two overcaffeinated electric sedans that seem to bend physics purely out of spite for combustion.
Still, Chevrolet’s latest bruiser outpaced some of Europe’s most celebrated machinery and comfortably became the quickest C8 Corvette Edmunds has ever tested.

During the test, the ZR1 sprinted to 60 mph (96 km/h) in 2.7 seconds, ran through the quarter-mile in exactly 10.0 seconds at 144.1 mph (231.9 km/h), and recorded a maximum cornering force of 1.38g.
Completing the full U-Drag run (there and back) took just 28.9 seconds, with a top speed of 159.6 mph (256.8 km/h). All of this was achieved in Track Mode with the Performance Traction Management system engaged, keeping the 1,064-hp machine glued to the tarmac.

As shown on the scoreboard above, Only two cars have bettered the ZR1’s time on Edmunds’ board, both powered by electrons rather than gasoline.
The Lucid Air Sapphire currently leads with an astonishing 27.9-second run at 163.3 mph (262.8 km/h), a figure made even more surreal by its weight and luxury credentials. Just behind it sits the Porsche Taycan Turbo GT, which recorded a 28.8-second run at 155.9 mph (250.9 km/h).
Among the cars edged out by the Corvette were the Tesla Model S Plaid, with a time of 29.3 seconds, and both the McLaren 765LT and McLaren 750S, with identical times of 29.6 seconds. The ZR1 is also quicker than the Porsche 911 Turbo S, which recorded a 30.8-second run.
Rounding out the top 10 cars tested are the Corvette Z06, Corvette ZR1, and BMW M8 Competition Coupe, with times of 31.3 seconds, 31.7 seconds, and 32 seconds, respectively.
“Edmunds U-Drags was conceived because we wanted to go beyond traditional drag racing and deliver a more comprehensive test of a vehicle’s performance,” Alistair Weaver from Edmunds said.
“It’s a fun format, but highly competitive. To succeed, a vehicle must stop and corner as well as it accelerates. We were inundated with requests from Edmunds U-Drags fans to test the Corvette ZR1, and it didn’t disappoint. This 1064-hp, mid-engined colossus is now the fastest gas car we’ve ever run, outpacing exotica costing twice as much.”
There’s a Faster Corvette
As quick as the ZR1 is, it’s not the most rapid Corvette you can buy. That distinction belongs to the all-wheel-drive, twin-turbo V8 hybrid ZR1X, which develops 1,250 hp.
Chevrolet claims it can sprint to 60 mph (96 km/h) in under two seconds and complete the quarter-mile in less than nine. Should Edmunds manage to test one, even the Lucid Air Sapphire might finally have to give up its crown.
