Global Debut & US Market Timeline
Since arriving in the US in 2020, the Kia Seltos has carved out a strong position in the brand’s lineup. Larger and more practical than the now-discontinued Soul, yet smaller and more affordable than the Sportage, it’s become a favorite among drivers seeking a balance of size, style, and value in the growing subcompact SUV segment. And now, it’s on schedule for a major revamp.
According to exclusive information retrieved by The Korean Car Blog, Kia is preparing to unveil the next-generation Seltos, and the wait won’t be too long. In fact, it’s reportedly happening on December 10, 2025. A US release will likely follow sometime in 2026, just in time for the 2027 model year.

Rugged New Look Inspired by the Telluride
Previous sightings of the next-generation Seltos suggest a significant design leap, bringing Kia’s premium styling to its smaller SUVs. It will adopt a completely new design language, taking cues from Kia’s flagship Telluride.
That said, expect a boxier silhouette, wider grille, and squared headlamps, giving the small SUV a tougher, more upright presence. Heavier body cladding and a more defined shoulder line further enhance its SUV character, while a flatter rear profile with Telluride-style LED taillights and a roof-mounted spoiler complete the redesign.
Compared to the current Seltos, which in our review is described as a subcompact SUV that feels a size up, the new version leans further into rugged styling. The current model’s space and practicality remain strengths, but its conservative design is starting to show its age.

The Current Model’s Strong Foundation
The Kia Seltos currently offers a 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine with 146 horsepower and a 1.6-liter turbocharged engine with 195 horsepower, both of which are available with all-wheel drive. It remains one of the most versatile options in the subcompact SUV segment, offering above-average interior space and a quiet, comfortable ride.
While details remain unconfirmed, reports suggest that the next Seltos could feature the Sportage’s 1.6-liter turbo-hybrid engine, marking the nameplate’s first foray into electrification for the US market.
