470-horsepower Hemi V8 finds a new home in limited Wrangler
Next year, Jeep will celebrate its 85th anniversary, and the company will start honoring that milestone today with the iconic Wrangler. Dubbed the Twelve 4 Twelve celebration, the 2026 Jeep Wrangler Moab 392 marks the first of 12 limited-edition Wranglers to be launched over the next year. Each new model will arrive on the 12th of every month, with the yearlong celebration also running alongside the “Operation Airdrop” social media campaign. The Moab 392 model kicks things off on a high and brawny note, as it features the brand’s legendary Hemi V8.

A Bumper Year Ahead for Wrangler Fans

The unprecedented campaign is bound to keep Jeep Wrangler enthusiasts entertained over the next 12 months, and the Wrangler is the perfect SUV to do it with, given that over seven million of them have been sold.
“Starting today, the Jeep brand will unveil a new limited-edition Wrangler model on the 12th of each month for the next 12 months—an integral part of our yearlong Twelve 4 Twelve celebration commemorating 85 years of off-road leadership and adventure,” said Bob Broderdorf, CEO of Jeep. “Each product release will embody the boldness, authenticity and unapologetic spirit that defines our brand. It’s an ongoing tribute to the capability, freedom and adventurous DNA that have shaped our brand for generations.”
The “Operation Airdrop” portion of the campaign will feature numerous videos, with teasers along the way hinting at what the future Twelve 4 Twelve editions could be.
“While the term ‘airdrop’ might hold an entirely different meaning today, for the Jeep brand it is an acknowledgment of a brand-defining moment – the parachuting of the Willys MB onto battlefields nearly 85 years ago,” said Olivier Francois, global chief marketing officer, Stellantis.
Moab 392 Blends Power and Capability

At the heart of this special 2026 Wrangler is the 6.4-liter Hemi V8, which produces 470 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. Not only is it quick, but it’s equipped for serious off-roading too, with 17-inch beadlock-capable wheels, 35-inch all-terrain tires, a 4.56 axle ratio, the 2.72:1 Selec-Trac full-time transfer case, and a cold-air intake hood with a water separator.
Outside, the 392 Moab gets a body-color hardtop, black tow hooks, mold-in-color fender flares, and rock protection sill rails. It appears Jeep will be offering some wild colors, too, as the one here is finished in striking purple.

The interior features heated seats trimmed in Nappa leather, a premium Alpine sound system, and a 12.3-inch touchscreen interface with navigation. As optional extras, Jeep is offering the Sky One-Touch powertop, all-weather mats, and an 8,000-lb WARN winch.
The Moab 392 isn’t cheap, though. It starts at $79,995, and that’s before any options or the destination charge of $1,995. Orders for this first of 12 special-edition Jeeps are now open.

What About The Rest of The 2026 Wrangler Lineup?

Jeep didn’t highlight any changes to the rest of the Wrangler lineup, which is already available to configure on the brand’s site. The only noticeable update for the rest of the range is a new Reign Purple paint option. The following trim levels are available below the Moab 392:
- Sport
- Sport S
- Willys
- Sahara
- Rubicon
- Rubicon X
While the two-door Sport starts from just $34,395, it’ll cost you over $60,000 for the four-door Rubicon X. The familiar 3.6L Pentastar V6 with 285 hp and 260 lb-ft is standard on most models, while select upper trims get a 2.0-liter turbo-four with 270 hp and 295 lb-ft. The plug-in hybrid model with 375 hp is expected to return for 2026, too, even though the Gladiator PHEV was scrapped.
With its solid axles, multiple differential setups, and four different 4×4 systems, the Wrangler remains a spectacular off-road SUV—you just need to live with its lack of refinement on normal roads.
Why It Matters

Nobody is going to complain about 12 special-edition Wranglers, an SUV that lends itself well to custom design and bespoke equipment. However, the new campaign may be a distraction from the fact that the JL Wrangler is aging—this generation of the off-roader first went into production in late 2017, long before more modern rivals like the Ford Bronco arrived on the scene.
Although the JL’s iconic, instantly recognizable design and class-leading off-roading capabilities have kept it relevant, you need to be committed to live with one on a daily basis. The steering is imprecise, the ride is bouncy, and road noise is intrusive. The gas models are thirsty and there’s a lack of small-item storage, too.
While we look forward to the 11 special editions to come, we also hope to hear about Jeep’s plans for a thoroughly revised Wrangler soon, even though it’s not expected before 2028.
